After Mother Nature shifted Thursday’s event to Friday afternoon, Matt Cosner was one of 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with the Cowboy Classic. Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Matt locked his spot into the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature with third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 17th, Cosner faded three spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 20th.
With preliminary results on Friday pinning Cosner fourth on the starting grid for his B-Main on Saturday night, Cosner secured his spot into the $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100 with a runner-up finish behind Rick Eckert. Starting in 23rd, Matt was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on lap 30.
On Monday, Matt made the short trip to Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) for the Turk Burket 88 Tribute. Earning the 10th-starting position for the $4,000-to-win A-Main via preliminary events, Cosner gained six spots to place fourth. He trailed Gregg Satterlee, Jeff Rine, and Gary Stuhler to the checkers with Matt Sponaugle coming in fifth.

May 22, 2021 - Cosner scores Top-10 finish with World of Outlaws at Port Royal |
Friday night found Matt Cosner in action at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) to take part in the doubleheader weekend with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series. With 43 Late Models entered for the Huey Wilcoxon Memorial, Matt recorded a seventh-place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Locking in the Top-3, Cosner fell short with a fifth-place outing.
For the Billy Vacek Memorial on Saturday, Cosner laid down the second fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat behind Rick Eckert. “It’s exciting to get the No. 66c back in Victory Lane, and I thank our family, our crew, and all of our sponsors for helping us get the win,” Cosner said. “We’ve been fast this year, and especially the past month or so, and it’s nice to see it payoff with a win. We also had a solid run on Sunday evening at Hagerstown Speedway. We’ll take that momentum into the World of Outlaws weekend at Port Royal.”
Saturday night found Matt Cosner in action at Selinsgrove Speedway (Selinsgrove, Pa.) piloting his LINE-X® No. 66c Late Model for the Super Late Model 46er. After topping the 31-car field in time trials, Cosner came in third in his heat race, which positioned him on the pole for the A-Main.
Keeping the field at bay throughout the caution-plagued 46-lap feature, Matt rolled to his first win of the season and a $5,046 prize. Max Blair, Gene Knaub, Andrew Yoder, and Brett Schadel completed the Top-5 finishers.
On Sunday afternoon at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.) for the Frank Sagi Tribute, Matt locked into the fifth-starting position for the A-Main via a runner-up finish in his heat behind Gregg Satterlee.
With $3,000 on the line, Cosner clawed forward two spots in the 30-lapper to register a third-place finish. He trailed Gregg Satterlee and Trever Feathers to the checkers with Tyler Bare and Rick Eckert rounding out the Top-5.

With the weekend opener at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) falling victim to Mother Nature, Matt Cosner competed in his lone event of the weekend on Saturday at Greater Cumberland Raceway (Cumberland, Md.) for the Zimmer’s United Late Model Southern Series (ULMS) sanctioned program. Coming in third in his heat race, Cosner locked into the fifth-starting position for the A-Main. With $3,000 on the line, Matt held his spot to register a fifth-place finish, trailing Max Blair, Gregg Satterlee, Jared Bailey, and Chuck Clise across the line.
